About Memoria
Memoria operates two funeral services brands - Memoria Funerals and Memoria Direct Cremations. We help families through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Our marketing team is small by design: a Marketing Director and a Head of Digital. We’re now making our first in-house content hire - and this is it. Until now we’ve outsourced our content. We’re ready to bring that capability in-house, and we want someone who’ll own it properly.
The role
This is a hands-on, end-to-end content role. You’ll own organic growth - from annual strategy and keyword planning, through to writing, building pages with the help of designers, and tracking performance. You won’t be delegating the work. You’ll be doing it.
You’ll also be joining at an interesting moment. SEO is evolving fast. AI search - the kind that returns a direct answer rather than a list of links - is changing how people find information. We want someone who’s genuinely curious about that shift and knows how to write content that earns citations from LLMs, not just rankings in traditional search.
What you’ll do:
Build and own the annual content plan across both websites and digital channels (web and social)
Write compelling, original copy - blogs, landing pages, advertorials - that serves both readers and search engines
Build and edit pages in WordPress, working within existing templates and improving page structure
Brief designers on infographics, social posts and visual content; partner with compliance to keep all copy within regulatory guidelines
Set organic traffic targets, build reports in GA4 and Search Console, and track performance against them
Monitor AI mentions - tracking whether Memoria appears as a cited source in LLM-generated answers
What we’re looking for:
Who you are
You’re someone who wants to own a function, not just contribute to one. You’re comfortable being the expert in the room, and confident enough to push back when you think something’s wrong. You’re inquisitive about how search is changing - not because your manager told you to be, but because you find it genuinely interesting.
You’re also realistic about what this role is. We’re a small team. There’s no junior to hand things off to. You’ll be doing the research, writing the copy, building the pages, and pulling the reports. If that sounds like the right level of ownership to you, read on.
Essential
3–5 years’ experience writing SEO content, with a track record of driving organic growth
A genuine understanding of how AI search works and where it’s heading - GEO, AEO, LLM retrieval - and the ability to translate that into a practical content plan
Hands-on experience in content management platforms: building and editing pages, not just dropping copy into a CMS
A real writer. You use AI tools to improve pace and efficiency - not to replace your voice or thinking
Data literacy: comfortable in GA4, Google Search Console, and tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs
Strong commercial instinct - you understand that content exists to drive leads and sales, not just traffic
Desirable
Experience in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, pharma, legal)
Technical SEO knowledge: schema, crawl, site structure
CRM email experience, ideally Klaviyo
Meta/social posting experience
How success is measured
Organic traffic growth across both websites
AI mentions - appearances in LLM-generated answers and AI Overviews
Leads and sales attributed to organic and AI search channels
Benefits
25 days holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
Death in service benefit - 4x salary
Company pension (3% employer / 5% employee)
Health Cash Plan via Employee Assistance Programme
Discretionary bonus scheme
Employee Referral Bonus
