Marketing Director
We’re looking for a commercially-minded, strategic Marketing Director to lead the next stage of growth for a high-performing DTC beauty brand.
Location: Remote, but time in studio (Soho) monthly is very helpful
Commitment: 1 day per week, to be spread across the week
Contract Type: FTC for is 6-9 months
Start date:
Onboarding from early May until mid June (0.5 days per week).
Full leadership from mid June until January 2026 (1 day per week).
Potential to extend.
Salary: Pro-rata £85-100k
We pay day rates as pro-rata salary divided by 220 for working days, plus 15% to cover extra costs of freelance life.
About the project
Brand Hackers are fractional marketing teams for brands with big dreams. We build bespoke teams formed FROM our full time team & some choice freelancers who support brands to scale. In this case, Brand Hackers are supporting with a full squad, from strategic leadership, to paid ads management, website, organic social etc.
Lottie (Brand Hackers Founder) has been doing this role, but is off on maternity leave!
The Role
We need someone to oversee the team, focused on driving top and bottom line growth from a DTC beauty electricals business. We’ve been working with the brand for a year with some incredible progress and are very embedded in the business.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll lead strategy and performance on the DTC channel, influencing wider brand decisions in partnership with the MD.
You’ll own the roadmap and guide a cross-functional marketing team toward ambitious goals.
You’ll be accountable for top and bottom line growth for the brand on their DTC site and influencing the wider business.
You’ll also be Account Director, responsible for the success of the Brand Hackers team with the brand - are they thriving?
Lead the Brand Hackers team (Senior Growth Manager, CRM Manager, Paid Media Manager, Social Exec & Growth Exec), ensuring that everyone is really focused on the key goals.
Act as a strategic sounding board to the MD, driving improvements in ways of working across the inter-connected team (brand’s internal marketing resource + Brand Hackers).
Line manage the Senior Growth Manager, ensuring she has the support she needs & that we are asking the right big questions.
What Success Looks Like
Both the Brand Hackers team & the brand’s internal marketing team are working really effectively.
Revenue growth is ahead of target.
There is strategic clarity at all times for us and the brand’s leadership team.
This role won’t suit you if...
You need firm hours and total separation from other work in-between.
You prefer building slowly or working within large corporate teams.
You’re a brand expert or a true growth lead - we need a generalist commercial marketing leader.
You feel you’re too senior to just get stuff sorted - you might be, but we need someone who can do as well!
What We’re Looking For
An experienced Marketing Director with a track record of scaling fast-growth DTC brands, ideally from £2m to £10m+.
A commercially-minded leader who has owned the full P&L and partnered closely with the MD to drive both top and bottom-line performance.
A systems thinker with a sharp eye for roles, responsibilities, and process, able to provide effective feedback and embed better ways of working across internal and brand teams.
A hands-on operator with exceptional proactivity and a bias for action.
An excellent communicator with experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally.
Someone who thrives in dynamic environments and remains responsive and plugged in throughout the week.
